Connect

Do you protect Alabama’s river critters? You’re in the right place.

Alabama Rivers and Streams Network partners study imperiled and at-risk species and restore their natural habitat. We bring together biologists who conduct research and those who translate that science into action for public and private decision-making. If this describes your work, get involved, learn about ARSN’s work, or connect with partners in the region with the information below.

Annual Meeting

Join the Alabama Rivers & Streams Network at the upcoming annual meeting.

February 26-27, 2026
Alabama Nature Center
3050 Lanark Road, Millbrook, AL 35405

During annual meetings, ARSN partners share valuable research, partnership benefits, and cooperative project opportunities around the state so we can take care of Alabama’s rivers and streams—and the critters within them—for years to come.

Regional Working Groups

Planning and meeting operations are led by four regional working groups based on geographic areas for the USFWS Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program: North, South, East, and West. These working groups conduct meetings as needed in their corresponding regions and create action plans that are presented at the annual ARSN meeting. If you are a biologist conducting water research or someone translating that science into action, join our regional meetings by reach out to info@alh2o.org.

ARSN Achievements

From dam removals to species reintroductions, ARSN partners are making measurable progress restoring Alabama’s rivers and streams. Explore stories of successful conservation projects happening in watersheds across the state and see the real-world impact of targeted, data-driven restoration efforts.

Leadership Team

The strength of the Alabama Rivers and Streams Network lies in that there is no board or structured organization. The leadership team provides a framework for the focus of resources (efforts and dollars), connects partners, and assists with data-driven restoration efforts to protect Alabama’s waterways.

Partners & Sponsors

ARSN is a collaborative network of biologists who conduct research and those who translate that science into action for public and private decision-making. We bring together federal and state agencies, utilities, private companies, universities and non-profit organizations, committed to clean water and healthy aquatic ecosystems. The collaborative approach ensures that scientific findings translate into real-world habitat improvements.
